The implementation of Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) is now mandatory in the tourism and creative economy sectors. CHSE implementation supports destination managers in ensuring that the environment of tourist destinations remains clean and well-maintained, thus providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for tourists.

This perspective was expressed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Chafid Fandelli, M.Si, a lecturer in the Tourism Studies Doctoral Program at the Postgraduate School of UGM, during the training on Handling Liquid and Solid Waste in Homestays and Sustainable Tourism Implementation: Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) in the Tourism and Creative Economy Sectors in Pulesari Tourism Village, Wonokerto, Turi, Sleman Regency (12/7). The training was attended by the local Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) from the tourism village. The event became even more engaging as participants were also taught to make various souvenirs from waste materials.

Meanwhile, according to Dr. Ir. Muhamad.ST.,MT.,IPU.,ASEAN .Eng, a lecturer in the Doctoral Program in Tourism Studies at SPs, the implementation of CHSE is also crucial for ensuring the health of the environment and tourists. One of the most important aspects to address is how to manage liquid and solid waste in homestays to prevent unpleasant odors which will disturb the homestay occupants.
