Yogyakarta, August 13th 2026 — The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) celebrated an academic achievement with the inauguration of Dr. Ir. Siti Andarwati, S.Pt., M.P., IPU., ASEAN Eng., as a Professor in the field of expertise Risk and Social Impacts of Livestock Enterprises at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, UGM. The inauguration marked an important milestone for SPs UGM, particularly for the Agricultural Extension and Communication Master Program (S2 PKP), as Prof. Andar, who currently serves as Chief of the S2 PKP Program at SPs UGM, will further strengthen SPs UGM’s academic contributions and role in addressing various challenges of sustainable development.
In her inaugural professorial speech, Prof. Andar presented the theme “Risk Mitigation and Adaptation to Support Sustainable Livelihoods of Livestock Farmers with Environmentally Friendly Livestock Farming Based on Technological Innovation.” The theme reflected her concern for the various challenges faced by livestock-farming communities and emphasizing the importance of developing livestock systems that are resilient, adaptive, and capable of thriving amid various changes.
Prof. Andar’s expertise in the field of risk and social impacts of livestock enterprises will enrich the interdisciplinary perspective that represents one of the strengths of postgraduate education. This approach not only considers livestock productivity but also takes into account sustainable livelihoods, community adaptive capacity, and the implementation of environmentally friendly innovation and technology.
As Chief of the S2 PKP Program at SPs UGM, her inauguration also strengthens the development of education and scholarship within SPs UGM. The presence of a Professor who is actively involved in study program management is expected to strengthen the academic ecosystem, research development, and interdisciplinary collaboration relevant to the needs of community development.
Prof. Andar is one of 539 active Professors at UGM and one of 29 active Professors out of a total of 55 Professors at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UGM. This achievement is a source of pride for SPs UGM and the entire S2 PKP academic community.
The addition of a Professor from among the leaders of its study programs, for SPs UGM, is an important step in strengthening academic capacity and institutional reputation. Prof. Andar’s expertise is expected to continue encouraging the development of strategic studies, innovations, and interdisciplinary collaborations establishing tangible contributions to the advancement of knowledge and community development.
This inauguration made SPs UGM hopes that Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Andarwati, S.Pt., M.P., IPU., ASEAN Eng. will continue to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and strengthen the role of higher education in supporting livestock-farming communities toward resilient, adaptive, productive, and sustainable livelihoods.
