The Environmental Science Doctoral Program Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) organized a Dissertation Camp & Student Gathering as a platform to strengthen academic collaboration, to enhance student capacity, and promote well-being within the postgraduate education environment. Under the theme “Strengthening Academic Collaboration and Well-being with Multidisciplinary Engagement,” the event, held on August 12th–13th, 2026, in the Kopeng area of Magelang, combined academic activities, open discussions, sharing sessions, and team-building activities into a collaborative learning experience.
The activity was coordinated by the Chief of the Environmental Science Doctoral Program, Prof. Dr. Drs. Eko Haryono, M.Si., and the Chief of Quality Assurance of the Environmental Science Doctoral Program, Dr. Sudrajat, S.Si., M.P.
The series of activities began on August 12th 2026, with participants gathering at the Faculty of Geography, UGM, followed by briefing, directions, and preparations for departure to the event venue at Merbabu 360, Kopeng, Magelang.
The academic activities continued with guidance from the Environmental Science Doctoral Program and a sharing session facilitated by Dr. Asmorowati. The session played an important role in creating a more open communication space among students, particularly in discussing academic experiences, the process of completing their studies, and the various challenges students encounter in their research.
The second day, August 13th 2026, students participated in a series of activities beginning with sports and team building aimed at fostering solidarity, communication, and teamwork among students. The activities continued with fun rafting on the Elo River. This outdoor activity provided a collaborative experience that required coordination, communication, trust, and adaptability in facing shared situations.
The event also reflected the importance of a multidisciplinary engagement approach in higher education. Increasingly complex academic challenges and development issues require the ability to understand diverse perspectives, establish cross-disciplinary communication, and develop solutions through collaboration.
