The Master of Disaster Management (MMB) Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada held a field study activity at the Bompon River Watershed (DAS) in Kajoran, Magelang, Central Java, on October 4th 2025.

Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Junun Sartohadi, M.Sc.was guiding the activity. It was attended by 9 students from the MMB program. This activity served as a practical component of the Multi-Hazard Management course.

The field study aimed to provide students with direct understanding of the hazards, risks, and mitigation strategies for various types of disasters that may occur in watershed areas, including floods, landslides, droughts, and water pollution.

Students, during the activity, conducted direct observations of the watershed’s physical conditions, such as land slope, water quality, vegetation cover, and land use by local communities. In addition, they engaged in dialogue with local residents to gather information about their experiences in dealing with disasters and the mitigation efforts already undertaken.

This field study provided a valuable learning experience, enabling students to integrate classroom theory with real-world conditions.
