The Population Studies Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held an accreditation field assessment conducted by LAMSPAK (the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences) on Monday (May 18th 2026). The visit was held onsite in the Leadership Meeting Room, 2nd Floor of the UGM Graduate School, and was also attended online via Zoom Meeting.
The field assessment invited two assessors: Prof. Dr. Dra. R. Nunung Nurwati from Universitas Padjadjaran and Prof. Dr. Pawennari Hijjang from Universitas Hasanuddin. They evaluated various aspects of the study program’s administration, including governance, academic quality, internal quality assurance systems, and the implementation of the university’s tridharma (education, research, and community service).
The event opened at 08:00 WIB with an opening session for the assessment, an introduction of the assessor panel, and the signing of the field assessment statement. Attendees included leaders of the graduate school faculty, program administrators, the accreditation team, lecturers, administrative staff, students, alumni, and graduate employers.
The Chief of Population Studies Doctoral Program, Dr. Agus Joko Pitoyo, stated that the field assessment was an important momentum to evaluate and strengthen the quality of the doctoral education program in population studies UGM. The program also presented various academic achievements, institutional developments, and strategies for continuously improving educational quality.
The assessor team, during the visit, verified data from the Self-Evaluation Form (FED), accreditation supporting documents, the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI), and the management of academic and non-academic activities within the program. In addition, the assessors conducted interview sessions with various stakeholders to obtain a comprehensive overview of the quality of educational services and the relevance of graduates.
One of the important agendas in this field assessment was the interview session with alumni and external stakeholders. Several alumni from various universities, research institutions, and government agencies attended to provide feedback regarding graduate competencies and the contribution of the Doctoral Program in Population Studies to the development of population science and population policy.
The field assessment concluded with feedback from the assessor team and the signing of the official assessment report. The Population Studies Doctoral Program, with this accreditation visit, hopes to continue improving the quality of education, research, and community service while strengthening its position as a leading population studies program in Indonesia.
