October 22nd 2026, Yogyakarta — The National Resilience Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada demonstrated a strong commitment to foster cross-institutional synergy through the participation of the Head of the Study Program in the Integrative Seminar of TNI Academy Cadets during the 28th Cadets Integration and Combat Week (PIKTAR XXVIII) in 2026. This prestigious event took place at the Air Force Academy (AAU) in Yogyakarta, carrying the overarching theme “Future Military Leadership 2045: Building Character, Ethics, and Professionalism of Future TNI Leaders in the Digital Era”. The active presence of UGM’s graduate program representatives signifies academic support toward developing adaptive and high-integrity military leadership.
The convening of this integrative seminar was motivated by contemporary challenges leading up to Indonesia’s centennial independence in 2045, marked by the radical transformation of the global security landscape driven by the convergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Society 5.0. Rapid technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and digital platforms require future TNI officers to possess technical proficiency but also rigorous ethical grounding. The forum highlighted the vital need to re-create the three foundational pillars of cadet education: Tanggap (intellectual agility), Tanggon (personal resilience), and Trengginas (physical agility). Integrating intellectual rigor, moral integrity, and physical agility is deemed essential to mitigating ethical risks in modern military operations.
The seminar featured three comprehensive panel discussions addressing critical dimensions of future military leadership. The first panel examined Algorithm Ethics and Command Responsibility: Human Judgment in the Age of AI, featuring academic experts from UGM as key speakers. The second panel focused on the re-creation of the Tanggap-Tanggon-Trengginas framework in confronting cognitive and asymmetric warfare. Meanwhile, the third panel thoroughly discussed Moral Courage and Professional Accountability of TNI Officers, anchored in the sacred values of Sapta Marga and the Soldiers’ Oath.
The active engagement in this strategic forum, the National Resilience Program of UGM and the TNI Academy remain steadfast in contributing strategic policy recommendations and white papers for defense leadership. This collaborative initiative aligns directly with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting lifelong learning and institutional curriculum enhancement. Second, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) with professional capacity building of defense human resources. Third, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by fostering transparent and accountable defense institutions. Fourth, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) with robust cooperation of higher education and military institutions to ensure sustainable national resilience.
