Chief of Geo-Information Interests, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Junun Sartohadi, M.Sc. carried out a collaborative visit to Taiwan University as a follow-up to an invitation from the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science National Taiwan University (NTU) and the Department of Geography, Faculty of Liberal Arts National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). This visit will take place on January 6-16 2025.

The aim of this activity is initiating collaboration in the form of recent research by utilizing geo-information technology at the Faculty of Sciences, National Taiwan University (NTU). The opportunities for collaboration in the education sector can be designed, such as exchange staff, students, joint education programs at master’s and doctoral levels.

Prof. Junun’s visit goal was also to test doctoral students at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) who were conducting research on the theme Geomorphological Hazards Mapping. This is a golden bridge to explore the possibility of further research (post doctoral research) for Indonesian students at NTU and NTNU.

This activity also included a visit that took place on 11th – 12th  January 2025 to the Quaternary volcanic area around Taipei City to get an overview of the existence of Geohazards. This activity adds to the essence of the application of geo-information science to environmental conditions in volcanic areas.

It is hoped that the follow-up to the results of this visit can increase the potential for collaboration in the field of research collaboration through Masters or Doctoral students in environmental science. Collaboration with reputable international publications through the graduate students and supervisors involved is also one form of output expected from this collaboration.
