Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS-Yogya) is an international Ph.D. program in inter-religious studies which supported by three universities in Yogyakarta, State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga, Gadjah Mada University, and Duta Wacana Christian University. Inter-religious Ph.D program at ICRS-Yogya is focused on religions in Indonesia through social, historical and cultural as well as religious approach toward contemporary issues such as justice, inter faith, human right, environment, gender, civil society, conflict, and so on. ICRS-Yogya also offers comparative study of sacred texts especially in teachings that concern about society.
Besides taking courses offered by ICRS-Yogya, students are also allowed to take other courses relevant with the three universities taught by Indonesian and foreign faculty members, and also enjoy the facilities of those universities, including library resources.
ICRS-Yogya accepts students from different background of religions, ethnics, and nations including foreign students. Currently, ICRS-Yogya’s students come from Egypt, Indonesia, Philippine, Poland, Serbian and United States that studying at ICRS-Yogya. As an international program, ICRS-Yogya is conducted in English. In the second year, students are required to spend one semester at a leading foreign university such as Temple University, Duke University, Georgetown University, GTU Berkeley, the University of Melbourne, Oxford University, Cape Town University, National University of Singapore, etc.
