Chief of the Population Doctoral Program, Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (SPs UGM), Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S.Si., M.Si., visited Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency in order to expand the network of cooperation partners. This activity took place on October 24th 2024.
This event aims to expand cooperation networks and strengthen partnerships in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, emphasizing education, research and community service. This visit was welcomed by the District Regent. OIC and all levels of leadership.
The meeting took place at the OKI Regional Government Office, Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S. Si., M.Si. stated his commitment to increase educational opportunities for local state civil servants (ASN) who wish to pursue doctoral studies. “ASNs at OKI who want to continue their doctoral studies don’t need to worry about the tuition fees. There are various kinds of scholarships available, such as the LPDP Scholarship, BRIN Scholarship and BPI Scholarship,” she said.
Prof. Sri Rum also emphasized the importance of cooperation in achieving educational goals. “Collaboration with local governments and institutions is very important to create an environment that supports education. We hope to build a strong network that benefits both students and society,” he added.
In addition to scholarship opportunities, the Population Doctoral Program at SPs UGM offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the skills necessary to conduct research and contribute in policy making. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to explore various aspects of population studies, including demography, health, and social issues.
The visit to the OKI is part of a broader strategy by SPs UGM to reach various regions in Indonesia, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange. Building partnerships with local governments to create a sustainable education ecosystem.
