Yogyakarta, August 13th 2026 — The Media and Cultural Studies Master Program (KBM), Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an Introduction and Orientation Program for New Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year on Thursday (August 13th). Graduate School Building, UGM, held at Meeting Room A, the program marked the beginning of the new students’ academic journey and provided an opportunity to introduce the academic environment and study life in the Media and Cultural Program.
A total of 32 new students were admitted to the Media and Cultural Master Program for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, with 29 students attending the orientation. The program began with introductions of the new students and the program management team, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere as the students began to build connections within the academic community.
Chief of the Media and Cultural Master Programs, Ratna Noviani, S.I.P., M.Si., Ph.D., introduced the field of Media and Cultural Studies and explained the stages of study the students will undertake with their academic journey toward earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree from the program.
The new students, in addition to an introduction to the academic field and study process, received information on various facilities and supporting activities available throughout their studies. Dr. Elok Santi Jesica, S.Pd., M.A., provided information on the support and resources available at the program, Graduate School, and Universitas Gadjah Mada levels.
The program, following the presentations, continued with an interactive question-and-answer session. The new students actively raised questions about lectures, academic procedures, and thesis writing. The session provided an opportunity for students to gain a clearer understanding of the academic process and study experience at the Media and Cultural Program.
The Introduction and Orientation Program for New Students concluded with an informal gathering and a group photo. This program made new students are expected to become more familiar with the academic environment of the Media and Cultural Studies Program and begin their studies with greater readiness to participate in various learning and academic activities at the Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The program marked the welcoming of the new cohort of the Media and Cultural Master Program at the beginning of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. A similar introduction and orientation program for new students of the Doctoral Program in Media and Cultural Studies was subsequently held on Friday (August 14th).
