Yogyakarta (15/7), the Environmental Science Doctoral Study Program at the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University successfully held a workshop on writing scientific articles and publications in international journals which was carried out in a hybrid manner at the Reading Room of the Environmental Science Doctoral Study Program, precisely in Building B, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Geography UGM . This event was attended by all active students of the Environmental Science Doctoral Program at Graduate School UGM.

Prof. Dr. Eko Haryono, M.Sc., Chief of the Environmental Science Doctoral Study Program, said that this publication training activity was to facilitate students regarding the publication of scientific articles in international journals as an academic requirement for graduation. Also present was Dr. Tjahyo Nugroho Adji, S.Si., M.Sc.Tech. and Dr. Bachtiar Wahyu Mutaqin, S.Kel., M.Sc. from the Faculty of Geography UGM as a speaker in the workshop session.

There are 4 (four) important things that must be considered when writing scientific articles which are called four key questions. These questions are (1) Why the study needs to be done, (2) What you did, (3) What you found, and ( 4) How your study will advance the field. These four things are key for students when writing scientific articles so that they suit the purpose of the writing.

This workshop consists of a session providing material provided by the speaker and an interactive discussion with all students. Each student is asked to present a journal or written article related to their dissertation research which will be published in an international journal. Each student received input and comments from the two speakers as material for correction and reference for writing scientific articles. It is hoped the students will carry out more optimally and could pass journal’s selection to be accepted and published.
