The National Resilience Program with a focus on the Peace and Conflict Resolution Master Program (MPRK) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) held a Peace Camp at Villa Kelivana, Kaliurang, on August 17th – 18th 2024.
The Peace Camp is intended to welcome new MPRK students for the 2024 Fall Semester.
This year’s Peace Camp, which took place in August, carried the theme: “Interpreting Independence: Competition or Collaboration?” The event also aims to strengthen the unity of the Master’s in Peace and Conflict Resolution (MPRK) family at UGM in the future.
The theme was chosen because competition and collaboration are two significant concepts. In life, there are always two choices: whether to collaborate or to compete. This choice extends to the MPRK classes, students will have to decide whether they want to compete or collaborate.
At this Peace Camp, several activities were designed to teach participants to have perspectives and anticipate the future. Sometimes these anticipations or perceptions can be incorrect, leading to conflicts.
The MPRK faculty members who attended the event included Prof. Dr. Mohtar Mas’oed, M.A.; Dody Wibowo, S.I.P., M.A., Ph.D.; Dr. Totok Dwi Diantoro, S.H., M.A., LL.M.; and Dr. Titik Firawati, S.IP., M.A.
This activity aligns with the implementation of SDG Number 4 on Quality Education and SDG Number 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals.
