Yogyakarta – The Tourism Doctoral Program (DKP) at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a Consignment and Workshop on Accelerating Dissertation Proposal Writing on June 17th–18th, 2026, at Wisma MM UGM, Yogyakarta. This activity is part of the program’s strategic efforts to support doctoral students in completing their academic milestones on time while maintaining the quality of their research.

The workshop was attended by students from the 2025/2026 cohort and was designed as an intensive mentoring forum aimed at accelerating the development of dissertation proposals. This program provides students with the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with their supervisory teams and academic experts to strengthen their research design, methodology, and the novelty of their proposed studies.

Participants, over the course of two days, took part in a series of intensive discussions and mentoring sessions focused on reviewing proposal-writing progress, addressing academic and non-academic challenges, and developing more effective strategies for completing their studies. On the second day, students presented the progress of their dissertation proposals as part of the evaluation and monitoring process of their academic advancement.

The Chief of the Tourism  Doctoral Program emphasized that the activity reflected the program’s commitment to maintain academic quality and supporting students’ progress toward graduation. In addition to producing more refined dissertation proposals, the workshop served as a platform for identifying students’ needs and challenges, enabling the program to provide more targeted academic support.

This consignment and workshop of the Tourism Doctoral Program at UGM hopes that students will be able to develop dissertation proposals with strong scientific foundations, well-structured methodologies, and significant academic contributions to the advancement of tourism knowledge and practice. The initiative also represents a concrete step toward promoting more effective, high-quality, and timely completion of doctoral studies.
