In 2024, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) celebrates its 75th Dies Natalis and 15th Lustrum. UGM with the theme “Strengthening Nationalism and Building Civility,” held various sports competitions as part of this year’s festivities. One of the sporting events organized was a line dance competition, which saw participation from various faculties, schools, and work units within UGM, including the The Graduate School or known as Sekolah Pascasarjana (SPs). SPs sent a team to compete with others on Friday, October 25th 2024.

The SPs team, consisting of five organization’ staff members, presented an impressive and captivating line dance performance. Their hard work and enthusiasm were key elements in this performance. Their dance movements with the guidance of a professional and experienced coach, became more dynamic and elegant.

Line dance is often featured in various UGM events, particularly during the anniversary celebrations since 2023. Its light, low-impact movements are often seen as elderly-friendly. Regularly performing line dance is certainly beneficial for physical health.

However, this competition was not only aimed at promoting health; it also served as a means to maintain good relations between UGM work units, as mentioned by the University Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, S.H., LL.M., in his opening remarks for the competition.

“This competition is an event we use to strengthen our cooperation and camaraderie. On the other hand, it helps balance our work and life,” said Sandi.

As a medium for stress relief from work, the competition was lively and exciting. Divided into two categories, beginner and improver, SPs successfully secured 3rd place with honorable mention in the beginner level.

Congratulations to the SPs Team!
