Yogyakarta, October 21st 2025 – The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held a “Dissemination Talk Show for Research and Community Service (PKM)” on Monday, October 20th 2025. Taking place at the Parking Lot of SPs UGM Unit 3, the event provided a stage for researchers to present their innovative findings and the positive impacts of their activities to a wider audience.

The event, officially opened by the Dean of the UGM Graduate School, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., aimed to celebrate science while demonstrating the tangible contributions of academics to the nation’s progress. In her remarks, Prof. Siti Malkhamah emphasized the importance of the downstream application of research results.

“Research and community service should not stop in an ivory tower or merely become reports. Forums like this are a vital bridge to ensure that the knowledge we produce at UGM can be of direct benefit to the community,” said Prof. Siti.

Hosted by the MC duo Yeti and Berlian, the talk show was divided into two main sessions, featuring a total of six presentations from lecturers and researchers, which also involved SPs students in the 2025 grant cycle.

The first session, focusing on research outcomes, was moderated by Ahmad Suparmin, S.P., M.Agr., Ph.D. The three featured topics included:

  1. Exploration of the L-Asparaginase Enzyme as an anticancer drug candidate by Muhammad Saifur Rohman, S.P., M.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D.
  2. Digital Transformation for Sustainable Food Security in Tejamulya Village by Dr. Sudrajat, S.Si., M.P.
  3. Opportunities for Increasing Rice Productivity for Food security in Sleman by Prof. Dr. Catur Sugiyanto, M.A., Ph.D.

The second session, which discussed the results of Community Service (PKM), presented concrete solutions to various on-the-ground challenges. This session was guided by moderator Dr. Duddy Roesmara Donna, S.E., M.Si., with three inspiring presentations:

  1. Community Service at the RI-Timor Leste Border to support Cross-Border Partnership by Muhammad Sulaiman, S.T., M.T., D.Eng.
  2. Detecting Groundwater with the Assistance of Drilled Well Procurement in Purworejo by Dr. Sudaryatno, M.Si.
  3. Integration of an Integrated Farming and Livestock System for food self-sufficiency in SIngosaren Village, Bantul by Dr. Priyaji Agung Pambudi, S.Pd., M.Si.

The uniqueness of the event lay on its scientific substance but also in its concept. A semi-formal atmosphere with dishes from traditional Yogyakarta angkringan food stalls made the discussion more fluid and friendly. In addition to the talk show, the dissemination was also complemented by a Research and PKM Poster Exhibition, which runs for five days from October 20 to 24, 2025. The exhibition, located in the Hall of the 1st Floor of the SPs UGM Unit 1 Building, gives visitors the opportunity to delve deeper into the presented research results.

The event concluded with an appreciation for all the speakers, moderators, and attendees who actively participated. This activity once again affirms the commitment of SPs UGM to fostering a research culture that is not only academically excellent but also relevant and impactful for the wider community.
