The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) welcomed His Excellency Talip Küçükcan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Indonesia, on November 4th–5th 2025. He attended as one of the keynote speakers at The 13th International Graduate Student and Scholars Conference in Indonesia (IGSSCI), which had the theme “Navigating The Future: Strengthening Resilience with Glocal Collaboration Towards World Peace.”

In his speech, Ambassador Küçükcan emphasized the importance of strengthening synergy between higher education institutions and governments across nations in addressing future global challenges such as climate change, geopolitical conflicts, and technological disruption. He also highlighted the value of glocal collaboration—a combination of global perspectives and local wisdom—as a key to building resilience and fostering sustainable world peace.

In addition to serving as a keynote speaker, Ambassador Küçükcan also held a meeting with the leadership of SPs UGM. The discussion explored various opportunities for collaboration of SPs UGM and the Government of Türkiye, particularly in the areas of education, research, academic exchange, and the strengthening of international networks. This meeting is expected to mark the beginning of concrete cooperation between the two institutions in establishing their shared vision of promoting peace and global development.

The presence of the Turkish Ambassador at SPs UGM also reaffirmed the university’s commitment in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through events such as IGSSCI, SPs UGM continues to play an active role as an international academic forum for dialogue and collaboration toward a more peaceful and sustainable global future.
