The Islamic Economics and Halal Industry Doctoral Program (PIIH) Graduate School (SPs) UGM, held a Workshop on Accelerating Dissertation Completion and Monitoring Student Study Progress on Wednesday–Thursday, April 15th–16th 2026, at Wisma MM UGM.

This activity was attended by 45 doctoral students of the PIIH Program from various cohorts, ranging from the 2018 to 2024, and involved 15 lecturers. The workshop is a routine agenda aimed at encouraging students to complete their studies on time, while also facilitating those who face challenges in the supervision process, including issues related to distance or the busy schedules of their supervisors.

The Head of the PIIH Study Program, Prof. Dr. Reni Rosari, M.B.A., stated In her opening remarks that this activity is expected to serve as an effective platform to help students accelerate dissertation completion with optimal results. She emphasized the importance of synergy students and supervisors therefore the graduation targets can be achieved as planned.

Meanwhile, Akhmad Akbar Susamto, M.Phil., Ph.D., a PIIH lecturer who previously served as Chief of the PIIH Program, attended as a speaker and delivered material in a sharing session on Tips and Tricks for Writing International Journals.

Dr. Akbar Susamto presented material on understanding scientific publications and the positioning of journal articles. He also discussed various important aspects, such as the types, quality, and credibility of scientific journals, as well as strategies in preparing manuscripts for submission to targeted journals.

Students, after the presentation session, were divided into groups based on their respective supervisory teams to conduct consultations regarding the progress and writing of their dissertations.

Through this activity, it is hoped that students of the PIIH Doctoral Program at UGM will become more focused and directed in completing their studies.

This activity is aligned with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 on Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 5 on Gender Equality, and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
