Yogyakarta, September 15th 2026 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) hosted an orientation session titled “Introduction to Library Services and Access to Resources” for incoming graduate students on Tuesday (15/9/2026). Held at the 5th Floor Auditorium of SPs UGM starting at 14:30 WIB, the event featured Wahyu Supriyanto, S.E., M.Si., Chief of the Library Division and a practitioner in Information Management and Library Promotion, as the keynote speaker. The session aimed to equip new master and doctoral students with strategic knowledge on maximizing academic resources to support their coursework and scientific research.
Wahyu, during his presentation, introduced UGM’s integrated library system, highlighting the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) used to search physical library collections. Beyond printed materials, students were introduced to an extensive digital literature ecosystem, including international journal databases, e-journals, e-books, the UGM Repository, Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD), SIDILA E-books, and the Rare Collections Portal. He also detailed methods for utilizing the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) e-Resources, which are accessible to all UGM academic community members.
Furthermore, Wahyu highlighted that access to all electronic resources provided by the UGM Library can be seamlessly obtained with a UGM Single Sign-On (SSO) account, both on-campus and remotely off-campus. Leveraging these digital assets is essential for completing coursework, drafting academic papers, and conducting thesis or dissertation research. To support student literature research skills, UGM Library offers dedicated Information Literacy Programs, including Individual Academic Consultations, Library Clinics, Information Literacy Mini Classes, “Let’s Understand Better” sessions, User Education, and E-Resources Workshops.
Wahyu emphasized the importance of fully taking advantage of high-value scientific database access while enrolled as active students. “Download as many journal articles as possible, because after graduation, you will no longer have access,” Wahyu advised the audience. This message served as a proactive call for new students to build personal literature repositories from the outset of their studies to ensure smooth academic progress.
This orientation showed SPs UGM students are expected to effectively navigate library facilities and leverage digital academic resources throughout their graduate education. Maximizing these resource platforms will enhance the quality of student research and further strengthen UGM’s standing as a world-class research university.
