Supporting Indonesia Emas 2045, PKP SPs UGM Holds a National Seminar

On Thursday (8/8), the Development Extension and Communication Study Program, Graduate School, Gadjah Mada University (PKP SPs UGM) organized a National Seminar with the theme “Transformation of Extension, Community Empowerment, and Development Communication in Preparing Resilient Human Resources Towards Gold Indonesia.” This theme was chosen to address the challenges in developing extension human resources in Indonesia. The seminar served as a platform for disseminating research findings on extension, community empowerment, and development communication and featured speakers from both practitioners and academics .

Attended by more than 200 participants, including lecturers, researchers, practitioners, and students from various universities across Indonesia, the event was opened by Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Dean of SPs UGM.

“Considering transformation to play a key role in shaping resilient human resources in line with the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045, we hope that through this seminar, we can formulate strategies to achieve that vision through various approaches. These strategies will not only have a strong academic foundation but can also be practiced,” Siti concluded.

The seminar featured a keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Ravik Karsidi, M.S., Special Staff for Central and Regional Government Relations, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, who delivered a presentation on how community empowerment extension must transform in line with the times.

“Educational transformation is inevitable with globalization. We must adapt to technological advancements. Extension agents or facilitators must shift their teaching approach towards student-centered learning,” said Ravik.

Furthermore, the seminar also included presentations by Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, S.T., M.T. (Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology), Dr. Ramadani Saputra, S.ST., M.EP. (Chair of the Extension Implementation Group), and Prof. Dr. Ir. Sunarru Samsi Hariadi, M.S. (Professor of Extension and Development Communication, UGM), moderated by the Secretary of the Indonesian Association of Extension, Development Communication, and Community Empowerment Study Programs (APP-KPPMI), Dr. Ir. Hery Bachrizal Tanjung, M.Si.

The event continued with a Q&A session and presentations of research findings. Supported by all extension and development communication study programs in Indonesia with APP-KPPMI. This seminar is expected to generate new insights and strengthen partnership relations with various parties, including ministries and universities in Indonesia.
