Yogyakarta, 14th December 2025 — The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Gadjah Mada took part in enlivening the 2025 Nitilaku Cultural Parade, held as part of UGM’s 76th Anniversary celebrations. This annual cultural event serves as a meeting point for tradition, togetherness, and national spirit, bringing together UGM’s academic community and the general public.
On this occasion, the SPs UGM contingent appeared united in Nusantara wastra, particularly batik featuring a variety of distinctive Indonesian motifs. Their appearance reflected the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage as well as a national identity that continues to be preserved and brought to life with academic and non-academic activities. The harmoniously styled batik attire conveyed an elegant and dignified impression, resembling a regent’s ceremonial entourage on a cultural promenade, moving in an orderly manner along the parade route with enthusiasm and pride.
The participation of SPs UGM in the Nitilaku Cultural Parade was not only part of the anniversary celebration, but also a tangible expression of the commitment of higher education institutions to preserving Nusantara’s cultural values. Through traditional wastra, SPs UGM conveyed the message that the advancement of knowledge can go hand in hand with respect for the nation’s cultural roots.
Throughout the parade, the SPs UGM contingent received a warm welcome from spectators lining the route. This enthusiasm reflected appreciation for the cultural diversity showcased by each participant and further strengthened the meaning of Nitilaku as a symbol of UGM’s historical journey and dedication to the nation.
The participation of SPs UGM in Nitilaku 2025 is expected to continue fostering a sense of togetherness, strengthening solidarity among the academic community, and inspiring collective efforts to safeguard and nurture Indonesia’s cultural heritage amid the dynamics of campus life and society.
