The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) is strengthening its commitment to enhancing the skills of its public relations staff with a Public Relations Workshop held in collaboration with Kompas TV in Jakarta. This event included in-depth sessions on news writing techniques, social media management, and protocol governance, followed by a direct visit to Kompas TV to observe media operations firsthand on November 5th – 6th 2024, in Central Jakarta.

Roro Ajeng Sekar Arum, Social Media & Optimization Lead at Kompas TV, shared her expertise on effective news writing and media management. “Not all information is worthy of becoming news. The stories we write must carry strong news value,” emphasized Ajeng during her presentation. In addition to theoretical material, Ajeng provided real examples from UGM news releases for joint evaluation, offering practical insights on how to refine news stories and social media posts for greater impact.

Participants were invited to observe Kompas TV’s operational systems and engage in discussions about collaboration opportunities between SPs UGM and Kompas TV to further improve public relations quality. The event was accompanied by Yahya, Coordinator of UGM Jakarta Campus, who stressed the importance of this activity in honing the creativity of the public relations team to advance UGM’s communications and publications in the future.

UGM’s commitment in this initiative is expected to strengthen the university’s image through more professional, relevant, and high-quality communication, supported by competent human resources.
