Yogyakarta, 14th July 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee, held the Workshop on OMERO–GammaPath Implementation: Enhancing Image Management and Analysis for Teaching and Research in Biology and Biotechnology as part of the implementation of the Transnational Education (TNE) Grant program.
The workshop took place at the 3rd Floor Lecture Room, UGM Center for Biotechnology Studies, and featured Prof. Jason Swedlow, an expert in imaging data management systems from the School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee, as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas, Chief of the Biotechnology Doctoral Program and leader of the TNE program team, stated that the workshop focused on the use of OMERO (Open Microscopy Environment Remote Objects), an open-source platform designed for managing, visualizing, and analyzing multidimensional imaging data. This platform has been widely adopted internationally to support interactive teaching, interdisciplinary research, and the management of complex visual data, particularly in the fields of biology and biotechnology.
Participants from academic and research communities, through this workshop, are expected to enhance their capacity in managing imaging data while enriching teaching methods and research approaches within Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The organization of this activity demonstrates UGM’s strong commitment in fostering international collaboration and strengthening data-driven technologies in higher education and life sciences research in Indonesia.
