Yogyakarta (29/08), Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (SPs UGM) and the Transportation Policy Agency of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (BKT Kemenhub RI) are working together to hold a seminar entitled “Inter-City Trains and Logistics Trains”. This activity took place in a hybrid manner in the Auditorium Room, Unit 1 SPs UGM Building.

This seminar is the second in the series of previous activities which took place on August 20th 2024. Presenting well-known speakers from various academic circles, practitioners and experts working in the railways. This event was successful in attracting attention, especially those who are interested and pay special attention to national transportation services such as trains.

One of the competent speakers who attracted the audience to fully explore the performance of railway transportation was Mr. Catur Wicaksono the Chief of the Sub-directorate of Railway Tracks and Buildings Region 2 Sumatra and Kalimantan, Directorate of Railway Infrastructure. In this case he discussed in detail the performance of railway operations in 2015-2024 and the management of railway asset management.

“The achievements of the development of inter-city trains and logistics trains is palpable by the community. It shows the increasing accessibility and mobility of the community and providing support for safe, comfortable and competitive modes of mass railway transportation. “This is certainly in accordance with the community’s needs to shorten travel time so as to increase people’s productivity,” said Catur Wicaksono.

Regarding the concept of managing railway infrastructure assets, it also requires significant collaboration from various stakeholders. This includes optimal infrastructure performance, continuously improving safety performance, and optimal institutional and financial governance. Meanwhile, the security and maintenance of state-owned assets includes administrative security, physical security and legal security.

The activity was successful, coupled with a presentation from Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., Dean of SPs UGM who was the discussant at this seminar. Participants actively provided questions and opinions regarding the discussion studies in this session. It is hoped that this activity will be a way to open awareness of the importance of the aspirations of the community as one of the elements of rail transportation users.
