The Chief of the National Security Master and Doctoral Programs at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM), Prof. Dr. Armaidy Armawi, M.Si., was honored to serve as a speaker at the 7th National Seminar on Indonesian Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senastindo VII) 2025. The seminar was organized by the Indonesian Air Force Academy (AAU) on Thursday, 27th November 2025, at the Sabang Merauke Hall, AAU, carrying the theme “Utilizing Space Technology for National Defense and Resilience.”

The organization of Senastindo VII reflects AAU’s continuous commitment in fostering a strong scientific culture and encouraging technological innovation within the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the wider academic community. This annual scientific forum serves as a vital platform to deepen discourse on the role of space technology in modern defense architecture and in strengthening national resilience.

Prof. Armaidy, on this occasion, delivered a presentation titled “Astropolitics and National Resilience: Power, Strategy, and Space Governance – Understanding the Geopolitical Dynamics Beyond Earth.” In his lecture, he explained that outer space has emerged as a new strategic arena influencing international relations, the distribution of global power, and national defense systems.

“The utilization of space technology is no longer merely a strategic option, but has become a vital necessity to strengthen national defense and ensure national resilience amid the increasingly complex dynamics of global geopolitics,” stated Prof. Armaidy Armawi.

Senastindo VII also served as a strategic forum to strengthen networks among military stakeholders, academics, researchers, and national as well as international strategic partners. Through such collaborations, Indonesia is expected to advance a more robust national innovation ecosystem, particularly in the rapidly evolving fields of space and defense technology.

Through its active involvement in this forum, the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in National Security Studies at UGM reaffirm their contribution to the development of strategic studies and national policy, while expanding knowledge partnerships with defense institutions and academic bodies at both national and global levels.
