Yogyakarta, July 14th 2026 — The Media and Cultural Master and Doctoral Programs at the Universitas Gadjah Mada Graduate School held a Curriculum Development Workshop on Tuesday, July 14th 2026, at the Sekarjagad Meeting Room, Hotel Santika Premiere Jogja. The workshop took place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WIB.
The workshop brought together program administrators, lecturers, and academic staff. It served as a collaborative forum to review the current learning process and formulate a curriculum that is still relevant to developments in society, media, and the field of media and cultural studies.
Chief of the Media and Cultural Program, Ratna Noviani, S.I.P., M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of regularly reviewing the curriculum to ensure that the learning process continues to meet students’ needs and respond to academic developments.
Participants, during the workshop, discussed the direction of teaching and learning in both the Master’s and Doctoral Programs, including the alignment of course content, the strengthening of academic subjects, and the development of more contextual learning approaches. The discussions drew on the perspectives and teaching experiences of the participating lecturers.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among lecturers in designing a more focused learning process supporting students in producing high-quality research. The program highlighted the importance of learning that not only develops theoretical understanding but also encourages students to critically examine issues related to media and culture.
The workshop showed the Media and Cultural Master and Doctoral Programs at UGM Graduate School reaffirmed their commitment to continuously improving the quality of education. The outcomes of the workshop will serve as a reference for academic activities beginning in the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
