Yogyakarta (20/8), the Transportation Policy Agency and the Directorate General of Railways (Ministry of Transportation) in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) held an expert talk series seminar and webinar. This activity was carried out in a hybrid manner in the Unit 1 Building Auditorium of the Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (SPs UGM).
Focusing on “Urban Trains and Airport Trains,” which presented prominent speakers from various well-known institutions, including the Directorate General of Railways, President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, President Director of PT KCI, Head of the Jabodebek LRT Division, and President Director of PT Railink, each of whom was represented by their unit.
This seminar aims to review the performance targets and achievements of the railway sector from 2015 to 2024, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to access to education, economic growth and sustainable development. Each speaker presented targets, performance achievements and development plans for the 2015-2026 period, emphasizing the importance of education for sustainability in the transportation sector.
Panji Arum Bismantoko, Head of the Corporate Strategy Division of PT MRT Jakarta, highlighted the three mandates of MRT Jakarta based on DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 53/2017. This mandate includes assignments to PT MRT Jakarta for the implementation of MRT infrastructure and facilities, which include infrastructure development, operations and maintenance, as well as business development and community-based transportation (KBT).
Next, Gotro Nuryadi, Vice President Commercial for KAI Commuter, explained the development plans for KAI Commuter KRL Jabodebek. He emphasized the alignment of this plan with the Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) program, which aims to improve the sustainability of all services and operations.
Then continued Kristina Octaviana, Vice President for Passenger Transportation and Information Technology, discussing the role of the Jabodebek LRT in supporting public transportation. PT LRT implements an integrated management system which is very important to improve the overall efficiency of the transportation network.
The final presentation was delivered by Indah Suryandari, Director of Administration and Finance at PT Railink. It provides insight into the airport’s rail services from 2014 to 2024, outlining development plans aimed at improving the integration of transport services and connectivity.
This seminar emphasizes the importance of civil society partnerships and global collaboration in achieving SDGs related to education and economic development. By encouraging partnerships between government agencies, educational institutions and the private sector, the railway sector can increase its contribution to sustainable development and economic productivity.
