Yogyakarta, August 18th 2026 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to promote digital-based higher education innovation. This commitment was tangibly shown with the successful implementation of the “Phase 1 Monitoring of the 2026 SPs UGM MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) Learning Innovation Grant”. This academic evaluation activity was held offline on Friday, August 14th 2026, at the Leadership Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, West Wing of Unit 1, SPs UGM Building. This program was specifically initiated to ensure the absolute quality of online learning materials before they are accessed by the wider public.

The monitoring agenda aimed to directly review the feasibility, quality, and readiness of the course modules prepared by the grant-recipient lecturers before they are publicly broadcasted on the UGM Online platform. To maintain high academic quality standards, SPs UGM collaborated with two expert reviewers from the UGM Directorate of Academic Studies and Innovation (DKIA), namely Dr. Irwan Endrayanto Aluicius, S.Si., M.Sc. and Dr. Ngadisih, S.T.P., M.Sc. They were tasked with examining the completeness of the Online Learning Activity Plans (RKPD) and evaluating sample modules consisting of learning videos, reading materials, and quizzes. Each component was comprehensively assessed to ensure it strictly meets the standards of interactive digital pedagogy. This in-depth evaluation serves as a crucial step to guarantee an optimal learning experience for UGM Online users.

A total of 10 lecturers and professors within SPs UGM who received this year’s MOOC grant presented their progress alternately. Some of these prominent academics include Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S.Si., M.Si., Dr. Silverius Djuni Prihatin, M.Si., Dr. Dra. Retna Siwi Padmawati, M.A., Dr. Emilya Nurjani, S.Si., M.Si., and Dr. Ir. Latif Sahubawa, M.Si. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Armaidy Armawi, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Yekti Asih Purwestri, S.Si., M.Si., drg. Agnes Bhakti Pratiwi, M.P.H., Ph.D., Prof. Priyono Suryanto, S.Hut., M.P., Ph.D., and Dr. Leonard Chrysostomos, M.Th. also presented their works. Various compelling course topics were offered, ranging from research methodology, digital library innovation, and bioethics to climatology and the history of religions. This diverse array of topics successfully represents the multidisciplinary scientific richness that characterizes the UGM Graduate School.

The DKIA UGM, during the review process, provided various constructive feedback aligned with the Course Development Standards at UGM Online. Generally, the image resolution and audio clarity of the learning videos were considered excellent. However, there were still several technical refinement notes for the proposers to optimize the audience’s online learning experience. This feedback included suggestions to change the essay quiz formats into multiple-choice questions, organize the reading documents, and add embedded text to the videos. Visual layout adjustments were also highly emphasized so that the presenters appear proportionally on screen without obscuring the presentation slides.

The Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Collaboration of SPs UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., actively monitored the evaluation process of this program. Through this Phase 1 Monitoring, the faculty hopes that all module drafts can be promptly finalized by the grant recipients in the near future. The development of this MOOC is a strategic and essential step for SPs UGM to expand the reach of quality and inclusive education access (SDG 4). This online system breakthrough was also developed to establish a campus learning ecosystem that is adaptive to the rapid advancement of digital technology. Hopefully, this kind of continuous innovation can solidify UGM’s position as a pioneering university in modern educational transformation.
