National Resilience Master and Doctoral Program at the Graduate School (SPs) UGM visited the National Defense University of Malaysia (UPNM) as part of their Foreign Strategic Study activities.
A total of 30 participants, including the program’s students, staff, and lecturers from UGM’s National Resilience program, attended this event. Additionally, students from various faculties at UPNM also participated in the activities. The purpose of this event was to equip and broaden students’ understanding of the regional geopolitical conditions in the ASEAN region.
Prof. Dr. Armaidy Armawi, M.Si., as the Chief of the Master’s/Doctoral Program in National Resilience at UGM, also gave an opening speech and served as a speaker for the event. In his speech, Prof. Armaidy expressed his enthusiasm for returning to UPNM, marking this as his second visit after the first in 2023.
“Last year, we brought a group of Master and Doctoral students to Malacca and the west coast; this year is slightly different as we are visiting the east coast and returning to UPNM. Hopefully, the two countries will continue to work hand in hand and strengthen their relationship,” said Prof. Armaidy.
This event was organized as an Academic Seminar featuring speakers Major Khairul Nizam bin Taib RMAF and Dr. Norainoi Binti Zulkifli, both lecturers at UPNM. During the seminar, the speakers presented on different topics: “The Causal Nexus of Freedom of Speech and Hate Speech in a Multiracial Society” and “Geopolitics of Maritime Security in ASEAN.” This was followed by a discussion or Q&A session involving various audiences, including UGM’s Master’s and Doctoral students as well as UPNM students.
This activity also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, which focuses on Quality Education, and SDG 17, which emphasizes Partnerships for achieving goals. Such activities will continue to be conducted by the National Resilience Program to equip society and future generations to face upcoming challenges.
