The UGM Graduate School (SPs) collaborated with UGM JAWARA OBIRA KKN-PPM Period II of 2026 in carrying out a Community Service (PkM) activity in Soligi Village, South Obi District, South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku. This activity was part of UGM’s commitment to support village development with strengthening governance, improving data quality, and community empowerment.
The visit of the UGM Graduate School Team consisted of Duddy Roesmara Donna, Agung Dian Kharisma, and Surono (30/7). Together with the UGM JAWARA OBIRA KKN-PPM Period II 2026 students, they held direct discussions with the village government, village officials, and the community to identify various challenges faced and formulate alternative solutions that can be implemented sustainably.
The Chief of Soligi Village, Mr. Madaisi La Siriali, expressed appreciation for the presence of the UGM team in this area. The assistance provided is very beneficial in helping the village government improve its institutional capacity while addressing various community needs.
“We are very happy with the presence of our friends from UGM and hope that UGM will continue to visit us in the future. So that they can help with the various problems we are currently facing, for example population data and the village profile that have not yet been updated. Furthermore, the community’s interest in continuing to higher education is still low, so we hope there will be continuous assistance,” said Madaisi La Siriali.
This activity made the UGM Graduate School team also explore the various potentials possessed by Soligi Village to be developed as part of sustainable village development. The collaborative approach of higher education institutions, the village government, students, and the community is expected to produce programs that address short-term needs but also strengthen the village’s institutional capacity in the long term.
The presence of the UGM KKN-PPM students also provided a real learning space for students to apply knowledge directly within the community. On the other hand, the community benefits from knowledge transfer, mentoring, and innovations offered with various community service activities.
The collaboration of the UGM Graduate School and UGM JAWARA OBIRA KKN-PPM Period II 2026 in Soligi Village is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of community service. This synergy is expected to strengthen village governance, improve the quality of data and development planning, and foster the motivation of the younger generation to pursue higher levels of education. In the future, the partnership of UGM and the Soligi Village Government is expected to continue with various community service, research, and community empowerment programs that provide tangible impacts on improving community welfare and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
