Biomedical Engineering Master Program’s Students Present Their Research at ICIBEL

Chandra Pratiwi, one of the students in the Biomedical Engineering Master Program, often referred to as the BME program at the Graduate School (SPs) of UGM, presented her research titled “Engineering Time Release from Sirolimus-Eluting Stents” at the International Conference for Innovation in Biomedical Engineering and Life Sciences (ICIBEL) 2024. The conference was held at the Easpark Hotel in Yogyakarta on September 22nd and 23rd 2024.

In addition to Chandra Pratiwi, the event was attended by Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, M.Agr, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Collaboration at SPs UGM; Ir. Rini Dharmastiti, M.Sc, Ph.D, Chief of Biomedical Engineering Master Program; as well as faculty members from the BME program, including Dr. Heribertus Dedy Kusuma, Dr. Dyah Listyarifah, M.Med., Ph.D, and Dr. Adhyatmika, along with five other students. The event was organized by the Center for Innovation in Medical Engineering (CIME) at Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (MSMBE) and the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFBME USA).

Chandra’s research was supervised by Dr. H. Dedy Kusuma Y., M.Biotech., Ph.D and Dr. Dyah Listyarifah, M.Sc., D.Med.Sci from the Faculty of Dentistry at UGM, alongside Eka Noviana, S.Farm., M.Sc., Apt., Ph.D, Dr. Adhyatmika, M.Biotech., Apt. from the Faculty of Pharmacy.

ICIBEL, attended by around 40 speakers from various countries such as Malaysia, Taiwan, Spain, Korea, China, Turkey, and France, is held every two years. In 2024, Universitas Gadjah Mada had the honor of hosting this conference.

The conference serves as a platform for researchers to present their work, receive feedback, and create new collaborations for future research with various attending researchers.

Several fields included in this conference are medical devices and instrumentation, green technologies in healthcare, intelligence in biomedicine, biosensors and diagnostic technologies, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, healthcare informatics and telemedicine, drug discovery and delivery, biotechnology and genetic engineering, public health and epidemiology, and biomedical imaging and signal processing, rehabilitation engineering.

This event is also aligned with the implementation of SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on partnerships to achieve the goals.
