The Dean of the Graduate School (SPs) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., officially opened the 42nd Anniversary series of events on Friday (August 22ND). The event was held in the west parking lot of the SPs UGM building. The opening ceremony was lively, attended by the academic community, students, and invited guests.
Carrying the theme “Indonesia’s Transformation Towards the Creation of Excellent Human Resources,” this year’s anniversary celebration reaffirms SPs UGM’s commitment to actively contributing to the development of a highly competitive next generation in the global era.
The Dean of SPs UGM, in her speech, stated that the quality of human resources (HR) is the key to a nation’s success in facing future challenges. “It is essential for us to develop excellent HR so they can contribute to educational institutions and also to the wider community.”
Participants, during the opening event, were invited to reminisce by doing exercise with SKJ (Indonesian mass exercise) routines from the 1980s, followed by the 2013 version, led by two aerobics instructors who are also PhD students from the Performing and Visual Arts Studies Program at SPs UGM.
In addition to nostalgic exercise, participants also played little games in groups to make the event more exciting and fostering camaraderie with each other.
Participants were also given the opportunity to show their singing talents, accompanied by a music group and singers from outside SPs, on a musical stage.
The event concluded with a friendly gathering featuring dishes provided by the SPs canteen and local food stalls around SPs.
This event aligns with the implementation of several SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), namely Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
