
SPs (11/9) A total of 12 teams consisting of male and female lecturers, educational staff, and master/doctoral students participated in a cover dance competition with the theme “Medley Dance of the Archipelago,” which is part of the 41st Dies Natalis of the Graduate School (SPs) UGM. It was held in front of the SPs building on Friday, September 6th 2024.
The competition offers a total prize of IDR 6,000,000. The 3rd winner will receive IDR 1,000,000, the 2nd place IDR 1,500,000, the 1st place IDR 2,000,000, the Favorite award IDR 750,000, and the Most Creative award IDR 750,000.
The jury consists of Galih Prakasiwi, S.S., M.A, a lecturer from the ISI Yogyakarta Performing Arts Department; Dr. Oki Rahadianto Sutopo, a lecturer from FISIPOL UGM; Dr. Hilda Ismail, Apt., M.Si., Coordinator of the Research and Publication Unit at UGM Graduate School; and the results will be announced on October 17th 2024, during the Scientific Oration event, which is the highlight of this Dies celebration.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Tech. Khabib Mustofa, M.Com, thanked all the teams involved and congratulated them on this event, wishing everyone an enjoyable experience, after calling on the teams to perform, which was met with cheers indicating that the teams were ready.
The 12 teams participating in this competition are from the Academic and IT Unit, Journal Unit, Library and Academic Unit, Secretariat Unit, Human Resources and Finance Unit, SKK and Cleaning Unit, Master’s and Doctoral students in National Resilience, Master’s and Doctoral students in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies, Master’s and Doctoral students in Cultural and Media Studies, Master’s students in Higher Education Management, Master’s and Doctoral students in Tourism Studies, Master’s and Doctoral students in Community Empowerment and Development Communication, and Lecturers and Master’s students in Religion and Cross-Cultural Studies.
All teams had an average training time of less than a month, and most did not have a background in dance. Throughout the event, the committee provided refreshments for both the audience and participants, and the event concluded with a Maumere flash mob.
The event, coordinated by Dr. Ratna Noviani, a lecturer from the Culture and Media program at SPs, was vibrant.
This activity also aligns with the implementation of SDGs Number 2, Zero Hunger, Number 4, Quality Education, and Number 5, Gender Equality.
