Bogor–Sukabumi, September 3rd–5th, 2026 – The Environmental Science Master’s and Doctoral Programs at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) actively participated in a series of activities held as part of the 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Association of Environmental Science Study Programs (PEPSILI) at IPB University, Bogor. The participation encompassed a range of strategic agendas, including an International Workshop, Competency Training, socialization and technical sessions on accreditation by LAM DEPILAR, the PEPSILI National Deliberation Meeting (MUNAS), and a field trip at Situ Gunung, Sukabumi.
The series of activities reflected the commitment of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science at UGM Graduate School to continuously strengthen academic and institutional networks, enhance human resource capacity, and contribute to the development of environmental education and environmental science at the national level.
The Environmental Science Master’s and Doctoral Programs, as part of the PEPSILI National Working Meeting, at UGM Graduate School participated in an International Workshop entitled “From Knowledge to Action: Strengthening Environmental Management and Governance with Multi-Stakeholder Engagement.” The forum brought together academics, government representatives, and international institutions to discuss various perspectives on environmental law enforcement, sustainable waste management, multi-stakeholder governance, and transdisciplinary approaches to environmental management. UGM Graduate School was represented by Dr. Sudaryatno, M.Si. from the Environmental Science Master’s Program and Prof. Dr. Drs. Eko Haryono, M.Si. from the Environmental Science Doctoral Program. Capacity building was further strengthened with the Competency Training entitled “Governance in Natural Resource and Environmental Management,” organized with a collaboration of PEPSILI and IPB University. The delegation from the Environmental Science Master’s and Doctoral Programs at UGM Graduate School, comprising the chiefs of the programs, quality assurance coordinator, faculty members, and administrative staff, participated in sessions covering quality assurance governance in higher education, the use of information systems in natural resource and environmental management, as well as the strengthening of integrity and anti-corruption practices. One of the key agendas of the training was the socialization of the Independent Accreditation Institute for Design, Planning, Environment, and Architecture (LAM DEPILAR). The activity provided the management of the Environmental Science Master’s and Doctoral Programs at UGM Graduate School with an understanding of institutional developments, the scope of accreditation, the IAPS DEPILAR 1.0 accreditation instrument, as well as the various tools and mechanisms required in the study program accreditation process. The session served as an important momentum for strengthening the programs’ preparation in responding to developments in the higher education quality assurance system. UGM Graduate School’s active participation continued in the 2026 PEPSILI National Deliberation Meeting (MUNAS). The strategic forum discussed organizational strengthening and the direction of environmental science education development in Indonesia, including the finalization of the organization’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART), accountability reports from various commissions, and the election of the PEPSILI Chairperson for the 2026–2030 term. During the MUNAS, Prof. Dr. Eko Haryono was elected as Chairperson of PEPSILI for the 2026–2030 term. In addition, Dr. Emilya Nurjani was entrusted with the position of Deputy Treasurer, while Dr. Priyaji Agung Pambudi became part of the Secretariat. These achievements further strengthen the contribution of UGM academic community members to the development of national networks and institutional capacity in environmental science education. Completing the series of activities, the delegation from the Environmental Science Master’s and Doctoral Programs at UGM Graduate School participated in a field trip in the Situ Gunung area, Sukabumi. Held under the theme “Save the Earth through Meaningful and Impactful Action,” the activity included an Environmental Rapid Assessment and trekking as part of field-based learning. These activities made participants gain direct experience in understanding environmental conditions and connecting academic concepts with real-world environmental dynamics in the field.
