Yogyakarta, April 23rd 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a Graduation Ceremony for its Postgraduate Program, Period III of the Academic Year 2024/2025. This event marked a moment of pride and gratitude for the academic achievements of graduates who successfully completed their studies with excellence.
In his report, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of SPs UGM, Prof. Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., stated that this period recorded 105 Master’s (S2) graduates and 10 Doctoral (S3) graduates. The highest GPA at both levels was a perfect 4.00. He noted that graduation statistics continue to improve every year, reflecting the hard work of the graduates as well as the active role of lecturers and supervisors. “May the knowledge gained be a blessing, beneficial, and an ongoing good deed (amal jariyah),” he said.
Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her remarks expressed her pride in the graduates’ achievements. She emphasized that the Graduate School is unique for its interdisciplinary approach, enabling its graduates to view complex problems from broader perspectives. “We hope SPs graduates not only possess excellent academic abilities but also understand and appreciate the diversity of individual characters, know how to leverage strengths, and wisely address limitations,” she stated. She also advised alumni to uphold virtuous values and maintain a positive image in society, becoming pioneers and champions in their respective environments with good intentions and strong integrity.
A message from the graduates was delivered by Sri Astutiningsih, a graduate from the Master of Population Studies Program. She expressed her gratitude to the lecturers, supervisors, and all members of the SPs UGM academic community for their unwavering guidance and support during the course of her studies. “Our struggle was not in vain. Thank you for all the dedication and assistance, including from fellow students who accompanied us through the ups and downs,” she said. She concluded her message with a light-hearted poem:
Final thesis full of drama,
Deadlines came and brought the trauma,
But now we all laugh with euphoria,
Because the cap is finally on our heads.
The event preceded solemnly and warmly, marking the end of an academic journey and the beginning of the graduates’ real contributions to society, the nation, and the world.
