The “Gladhi Nalar” activity of the The Performing Arts and Fine Arts Master Program (PSPSR) Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School on this occasion as one of a series of events carried out a study visit to Sunaryo Art Space and NuArt Sculpture Park Bandung on October 30th 2024. This activity was attended by PSPSR Study Program staff and students.

This visit aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of arts management practices in a contemporary context. At Sunaryo Art Space, students have the opportunity to observe various art exhibitions and interact with a unique artistic environment. This interaction is very important for students to understand the dynamics of art space management and the importance of a creative environment in encouraging artistic expression.

“The PSPSR Nalar Training in Bandung was extraordinary, providing knowledge and experience beyond expectations. We discussed with ISBI Bandung’s postgraduate friends, met Mr. Sunaryo, the founder of Sunaryo Art Space, who has a very strong nationalist feeling. We also met I Nyoman Nuarta, the maker of the Garuda Statue at IKN and collaborated in performing with Samba Sunda under the leadership of Mr. Ismet, a PSPSR alumni. “This experience gave us lots of ideas for expressing ideas and ideas both through writing and work,” said Heni Siswantari, a student at the PSPSR Study Program.

NuArt Sculpture Park, known for its impressive outdoor sculptures and installations was another vital location for this study visit. Students explore park management strategies and how they contribute to the promotion of public art.

Interacting with stakeholders in both places allows students to gain insight into the operational aspects of arts management and the challenges faced in the creative industries.

These study visits are not only an educational experience, but also a platform for students to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills in the context of arts management. By understanding the ins and outs of art space management, students will be better prepared to contribute to the cultural landscape of Indonesia and beyond.
