SPs (July 26th 2024) The 41st Anniversary of UGM Graduate School was officially opened by its Dean  Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., marked by gong striking at the west parking area of the SPs UGM building. The event was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and students from SPs, as well as leaders and staff from faculties within UGM, on Friday, July 26th, 2024.

The opening ceremony of the 41st Anniversary was enlivened with line dancing, and health consultation services were provided in collaboration with GMC (Gadjah Mada Medical Center). The health consultation included blood sugar tests, cholesterol checks, uric acid tests, blood pressure measurements. This event also provided door prizes, entertainment stages, and various breakfast menus to host the guests.

This 41st Anniversary carries the theme “Transformation Towards a Sovereign Indonesia.” This theme was chosen as it aligns with Indonesia’s Vision stated in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which aims for a life of freedom, unity, sovereignty, justice, and prosperity. It also aligns with the global agreement on sustainable development, which includes 17 global goals and targets for 2030, declared by both developed and developing countries at the UN General Assembly in September 2024.

As the Dean mentioned in her speech, “In accordance with Indonesia’s vision and the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which aims for a life of freedom, unity, sovereignty, justice, and prosperity. Let us work together to realize this, which is also in line with the global agreement on achieving sustainable development.” she stated.

UGM Graduate School has prepared a series of events, including social service activities in the surrounding SPs area from July to August 2024 for this 41st Anniversary. In August to September 2024, there will be dissemination of research and community service grant results from the previous year, as well as sports competitions, a Three Minutes Thesis competition, a family gathering, and a cover dance competition for internal SPs students, staff, and lecturers. The peak event will be held on October 17th, 2024.

In relation to this, Dewi Haryanti Susilastuti, Ph.D., one of the event coordinators, outlined the series of events prepared by SPs. “In August, there will be social service activities, followed by the Three Minutes Thesis competition. From August to September, there will be sports events, a family gathering in September, and the peak anniversary event will be held on October 17th.” she explained.

This event also serves as an implementation of SDGs number 2 (Zero Hunger), number 4 (Quality Education), number 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
