Saturday (19/10), the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a Family Gathering event as the closing of the 41st SPs UGM Anniversary series. This event was intended for the SPs UGM community and their families, also student representatives to join in the celebration.

“This morning’s family gathering aims to bring us closer together with family members, fostering a stronger sense of unity,” said the Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her opening remarks.

The event was lively, featuring dance performances and a variety of games. Activities ranged from photo collage contests, dancing chair, paper plane throwing, group sarong races, threading needles, stacking cups, to rubber band throwing. These games were not only for children but also involved students, staff, and faculty members in attendance.

Additionally, a Pos Binaan Terpadu (Posbindu) or known as medical check up was set up as part of the gathering, offering basic health checks, including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid levels. This aligns with SPs UGM’s efforts to support the health-promoting university (HPU) program, which aims to foster a healthy and well-rounded learning environment.

“Today’s event was so much fun; we got to do health checks, and the games were really exciting, especially the dancing chair,” said one of the attendees.

The event’s atmosphere was further enlivened by musical performances. Three bands—comprising staff, faculty, and students from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program (PSPSR)—performed songs from various genres, ranging from pop to dangdut, bringing positive energy to the entire SPs UGM community.
