Yogyakarta, July 23rd 2026 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) organized an academic event entitled the Program Quality Assurance and Sustainability Workshop from Monday to Tuesday, July 20th -21st 2026. Taking place in the 5th Floor Auditorium of SPs UGM, this event was attended by the deanery leadership, Chief programs, and academic development teams from each program and concentration. This workshop was strategically held to prepare the 2026 curriculum design, develop a sustainability plan for study programs, and formulate governance quality assurance strategies encompassing accreditation and human resources (HR) development.
The first day’s agenda focused on strategic directives from the SPs UGM leadership. The Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of compiling an adaptive cross-disciplinary curriculum and strengthening the composition of lecturers to ensure the institution’s scientific sustainability. She also highlighted the critical implementation of the Quality Assurance System (SPM) with a consistent PPEPP (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) cycle. Complementing these directives, the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, along with the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and HR, presented evaluations on punctual graduation quality indicators, fulfillment criteria for academic functional positions, and strategies to meet lecturer adequacy standards to achieve Superior accreditation.
The agenda, entering the second day, continued with sequential presentation sessions on the readiness of the new curriculum manuscripts by all programs and concentrations within SPs UGM. During this session, each study program presented its course credit (SKS) restructuring plan, preparation to implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE) with the SIMASTER system, and innovations in increasing student intake. The interactive discussions also highlighted the importance of integrating final project completion with scientific publications, and the urgency of active student involvement in lecturers’ Tridharma activities (research and community service) to strengthen the study programs’ accreditation track records.
Overall, the implementation of this workshop reflected SPs UGM’s firm commitment to maintain the quality of higher education aligned with the development of academic needs and the latest regulations. Follow-up plans from this event include mapping proposals for new lecturer recruitment, accelerating the completion of RPKPS documents, and implementing the new curriculum standards in the odd semester of 2026/2027. This sustainable initiative contributes directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly targeting Quality Education (SDG 4) with adaptive curriculum design, and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) realized through cross-disciplinary scientific collaboration.
