The series of events commemorating the 43rd Dies Natalis of the School of Graduate Studies (SPs) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was enlivened by a Badminton Competition held over two days, September 23rd–24th 2026, at the Klebengan Sports Hall (GOR Klebengan) UGM. The event was part of SPs UGM’s efforts to commemorate its 43rd anniversary with academic achievements and activities that foster togetherness, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle within the work and learning environment.
The badminton tournament, unlike other competitions, had its own distinct appeal, as it brought together members of the SPs UGM academic community while also challenging teams to demonstrate their skills and competitive spirit.
Throughout the two-days competition, participants played with a strong sense of sportsmanship and competitiveness while maintaining a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. Powerful smashes, precise returns, and long rallies added excitement to the matches, allowing spectators to share in the thrill of the competition.
Several teams, after a series of intense matches, emerged with outstanding performances. KPTU II, consisting of Arif, Fendra, Amri, and Ali, secured First Place. Second Place was won by KPTU III, represented by Ramang, Fajar, Surono, and Faisol. Meanwhile, Third Place was jointly awarded to two teams. KPTU I, consisting of Prof. Widyanto DN, Dr. Agung Dian K., Pambudi, and Prapto, shared the third-place position with KPTU IV, consisting of Joko, Satiman, Diro, and Aqil.
SPs UGM hopes that the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and commitment to health will continue to grow within the SPs community. More than just a competition, the badminton event reflected SPs UGM’s commitment to fostering a harmonious, healthy, and family-oriented work and learning culture, serving as a foundation for continued contributions to the development of postgraduate education in Indonesia.
