Yogyakarta, the Graduate School (SPs) of Gadjah Mada University held an open exam for doctoral promotion for Nuryuda Irdana from the Tourism Studies Program at the Auditorium of the Postgraduate School, on Tuesday (12/11/2019).
On this occasion, Nuryuda presented the results of his dissertation research entitled Model Implementation of Banking EDC Machines in Traditional Markets for Shopping Tourism Icons in Yogyakarta and Surakarta. Nuryuda said that Yogyakarta and Surakarta are cities in Indonesia that have unique cultures which then make them shopping destinations in traditional markets. Then Yogyakarta and Solo have the same tourism attractions including the palace, the grand mosque, and traditional markets which are also the main focus of this research, namely Beringharjo Market and Klewer Market.
However, although the nominal transactions in the two traditional markets are relatively large, there are still traders who are reluctant to use banking Electronic Data Center (EDC) machines and choose to make transactions in the traditional way (cash). Therefore, Nuryuda aims to determine what variables affect the willingness of traders in traditional markets for shopping tourism icons in the Yogyakarta and Surakarta areas to use banking EDC machines and compile a model for implementing banking EDC machines in traditional markets which have become icons of shopping tourism in the Yogyakarta area and Surakarta.
Based on the research of Nuryuda's dissertation, the variables that affect the use of the EDC banking machine in the traditional markets of Beringharjo Yogyakarta and Klewer Surakarta, in order based on their weights, are ease, usability, and security. The features and shape of the machine make the biggest contribution to the usability and turnover variables.
Then, the implementation model of the EDC banking machine in traditional markets for shopping tourism icons in Yogyakarta and Surakarta is carried out in three phases, namely the product development phase and the provision of banking EDC machines that have features and forms that are easy to understand and operate (user friendly), the phase Socialization of EDC machine implementation carried out simultaneously by related agencies, and technical training phases in the use of EDC machines.
The results of this dissertation were presented by Nuryuda in front of the assembly leadership, the promoter team, the examiners team, and invited guests. Nuryuda was declared to have graduated as a doctor with honors. (SPs / Azrina)
