Yogyakarta (11/10), the Development Extension and Communication Doctoral Study Program at the Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (SPs UGM) successfully held a journal article writing training activity which was attended by 15 students. This activity took place at the Grand Keisha Hotel.
This activity aims to improve students’ skills in academic writing and prepare for international publications. Additionally, the program contributes to the broader goal of ensuring inclusive and quality education. By providing training in writing journal articles, SPs UGM strengthens the educational foundations students need to be successful in academic and professional careers.
This workshop presented competent speakers, Dr. Agus Dwi Nugroho, S.P., M.Sc., who has extensive experience in the field of international journal publications. Dr. Agus shared knowledge and insight with students regarding publication structures, references, and important things that students must pay attention to when publishing their scientific work in international journals.
Dr. Agus’ presentation includes practical tips on how to compose journal articles effectively. He discusses the importance of a clear abstract, a well-defined methodology, and a strong discussion section. These elements are critical to making a significant impact within the academic community and ensuring that research reaches a wider audience.
This workshop also discussed the importance of appropriate referencing and citation practices. Students learn how to navigate various citation styles and the importance of giving credit to the original author. This knowledge is critical to maintaining academic integrity and contributing to the credibility of their work.
The interactive nature of the workshops allows students to engage in discussions and ask questions, creating a collaborative learning environment. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn from an expert and appreciated the practical insights shared during the session.
When the workshop ended, students gained renewed enthusiasm and a clearer understanding of the publication process. They are now better prepared to face the challenges of academic writing and more confident in their ability to contribute to international journals.
