Yogyakarta, (October 23rd 2024) – Dr. Prakosa Hadi Takariyanto, MM., a student in the Leadership and Policy Innovation Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM), has successfully earned his doctoral degree after 4-years and 7-months academic journey. Prakosa, now 59, first enrolled in the doctoral program in 2019. He sees his decision to pursue further studies as a commitment to continuous learning and contributing to society and his professional sphere.
This is not Prakosa’s first academic pursuit at UGM, as he is an alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering’s Civil Engineering program, Class of 1984. “UGM feels like a second home to me, and I am grateful to return to this campus to deepen my knowledge,” he shared. Prakosa currently serves as the President Commissioner at a subsidiary of PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok and has broad professional experience, including as a commissioner at PT Wijaya Karya Group. Equipped with technical knowledge from his earlier studies, Prakosa finds that professional demands require multidisciplinary insights, making his doctoral studies at SPs UGM valuable for understanding the dynamics of policy and leadership.
Prakosa recalls the early days of his doctoral studies when classes were held in person until the Covid-19 pandemic led to a switch to virtual learning in the first semester. “It was a new experience for me, transitioning from face-to-face learning to online classes,” he said.
He emphasizes lifelong learning as essential in today’s era of rapid change. “Learning is a responsibility for all of us, especially with the fast-paced changes of the times. Knowledge can be obtained not only at universities but also in the workplace and community,” Prakosa noted.
In his message to prospective students, he encourages a steadfast commitment to education, regardless of age. “Learn diligently, take every opportunity to pursue knowledge, so that the knowledge gained can be widely beneficial. Age should not be a barrier to learning,” he concluded.
Prakosa hopes that his knowledge will continue to benefit others and inspire the younger generation to pursue education, as age is no obstacle to advancing learning for a better Indonesia.
