
Yogyakarta, 20th February 2025 – The Cultural and Media Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a badminton tournament titled “Funminton” at GOR Lembah UGM. This event is one of a series of lustrum activities that aim to strengthen togetherness and collaboration among students, lecturers, and study program managers.
The tournament was lively with the presence of various elements in the academic environment of the Graduate School, including the Deputy Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of the UGM Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Widyanto Dwi Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr.Sc. He not only gave his support but also participated in the Exhibition Match.
The atmosphere of the UGM Valley GOR, from the beginning of the tournament, was filled with enthusiasm from the participants and supporters. Participants here are students, lecturers and education staff. The participants showed their skills in badminton. This event is not only about winning the title, but also bonding together the big family of Cultural and Media Program.
One of the audience, Haris Nusa Bela, expressed his positive impression of the event. “This ‘Funminton’ activity is very exciting. This event is a meeting place for many people in the Cultural and Media Program, including lecturers, students, and alumni from various generations. In addition, the current trend of badminton also adds its own charm, so many are interested in participating,” he said. He and several other audiences hoped that activities like this could continue to be held in the coming years.
The highlight of the tournament was the final match, which saw an exciting battle between the pair of Prof. Dr. Sugeng Bayu Wahyono, M.Si., and Laillia Dhiah Indriani. Their outstanding performance captivated the audience, which eventually led them to victory. Cheers and applause from participants and audiences created a more exciting atmosphere, making this event unforgettable for all involved. The “Funminton” tournament went smoothly and successfully as a series of lustrum activities of the Cultural and Media Studies Program.
