The Norwegian students from University of Agder will be exchange students at UGM for one semester, from January to April 2008. The exchange programme is a part of the long-lasting collaboration between the two institutions, since 1992. The students are in their final year of a bachelor programme in Development Studies, and their main task in Indonesia is to collect data for their bachelor theses. There will be approximately 10 students, all with an academic focus on the role of human resources in economic and political development.
The program should start by a three weeks introductory course on Human Resource Development in Indonesia. After that, the group will be split and some will do fieldwork and data collection in the province of Yogyakarta, while the majority will go to NTT, Flores.
By a series of lectures over three weeks (January 8-25), the students should gain a basic and general knowledge of the history and current status of human resources in Indonesia as a basis for economic and political development. They should also learn about specific challenges in doing data collection on this topic within the Indonesian administrative and cultural context. The students should thereby be well prepared for the following fieldwork and individual data collection. All lectures should be well prepared, compliment each other and not be overlapping, and they should be presented in English.
