Academic Coordination Meeting of the Doctoral Program in Population Studies at SPs UGM Discusses Strategies for Sustainable Education

Yogyakarta, April 21st 2026 – The Population Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held an important academic coordination meeting in Room E503 of the KLMB Building, Faculty of Geography. The meeting aimed to discuss strategies for sustainable education, particularly focusing on education for sustainability and global partnerships.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of the The Population Doctoral Program, the  program’s quality assurance unit, homebase lecturers, and the program’s academic development team. The agenda included discussions on innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and the integration of sustainability principles into academic programs, particularly in relation to accreditation.

Dr. Agus Joko Pitoyo, S.Si., M.A., Chief of the The Population Doctoral Program, opened the meeting by presenting strategies related to educational quality as well as concrete steps to strengthen student competencies.

One of the key topics discussed was the need for a multidisciplinary approach in teaching within the The Population Doctoral Program. Participants emphasized the importance of integrating perspectives from various fields, such as environmental science, economics, and sociology, to provide a comprehensive understanding of population dynamics and sustainability.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to develop a strategic plan to implement the discussed initiatives. Participants agreed to form working groups focused on specific areas, such as curriculum development, research collaboration, and community engagement. These collaborative efforts aim to create a more sustainable educational framework within the Doctoral Program in Population Studies.
