(15/10) The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) commemorated its 43rd Anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to strengthen interdisciplinary integration as a meaningful contribution to national progress and the equitable distribution of societal well-being. This milestone serves as an opportunity to reflect on SPs UGM’s journey and strengthen the role of education and research in supporting Indonesia’s sustainable development toward Golden Indonesia 2045.

Prof. Hadna, as part of the anniversary celebrations, represented Prof. Tumiran, Chair of the UGM Academic Senate, in delivering a scientific oration entitled “Strengthening the Role of the UGM Graduate School in Integrating Knowledge for Indonesia’s Progress and Equitable Prosperity.” The oration highlighted the importance of integrating education, research, technology, industry, and development policies to increase national productivity while extending the benefits of development to society.

SPs UGM, in this context, held a strategic position in bringing together diverse academic disciplines with education, research, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Interdisciplinary integration is expected to generate new knowledge, evidence-based policy recommendations, and human resources capable of addressing increasingly complex development challenges.

The scientific oration also emphasized the importance of strengthening science, technology, and innovation as drivers of national transformation. Technological development must be accompanied by improvements in human resource capabilities, stronger domestic industries, and expanded employment and business opportunities. Thus, economic progress should not only increase productivity but also promote a more equitable distribution of development benefits across regions and social groups.

SPs UGM, at its 43rd year,  is expected to continue developing as a center for interdisciplinary integration, bringing together diverse perspectives to gain a comprehensive understanding of challenges and formulate solutions relevant to the nation’s needs. Graduate education is also expected to produce graduates who excel in their respective fields, work effectively across disciplines, uphold integrity, and contribute to society.

The 43rd Anniversary serves as an important milestone for SPs UGM to strengthen its academic contribution by connecting advances in knowledge with national development. Through education, research, and sustained collaboration, SPs UGM remains committed to contributing to Indonesia’s progress and the realization of more equitable societal well-being.

Happy 43rd Anniversary to the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada. Strengthening the integration of knowledge for Indonesia’s progress and prosperity.
