The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) took pride in the courage and enthusiasm demonstrated by students of the Development Extension and Communication Master and Doctoral Programs (PKP) in presenting their research ideas at international academic forums at the Academic Visit to Japan 2026, held on October 15th–20th 2026.
Eight students had the opportunity to present their research at three leading universities in Japan: The University of Tokyo, the University of Tsukuba, and the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT).
The SPs UGM students’ courage to step forward, share their ideas, and engage in discussions with international academics is truly commendable. They brought their research findings and also introduced various issues faced by Indonesian communities as part of broader global academic discussions.
The diverse research topics, ranging from river conservation, migration, community-based tourism, agricultural digitalization, to environmental restoration, demonstrate that SPs UGM students’ research is rooted in real-world challenges and has broader relevance.
SPs UGM took pride in seeing its students step beyond familiar academic environments, engage in international forums, and communicate their ideas with confidence. This experience was expected to serve as a valuable foundation for their continued development as researchers who embrace global perspectives while remaining committed to address the challenges faced by Indonesian communities.
This initiative marked an important step to broaden academic perspectives and show that Indonesian students’ research deserves recognition on the international stage.
