The atmosphere at the School of Graduate Studies (SPs) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) field was livelier than usual on Friday (September 11). Cheers from spectators and enthusiastic shouts from the players filled the air during the Gobak Sodor Competition, held as part of the 43rd Dies Natalis celebration of SPs UGM in 2026.

The traditional game was participated in by several teams representing the academic community of SPs UGM. Gobak Sodor is a team-based game that requires players to demonstrate speed, agility, and strong teamwork. The game was selected as one of the competition events as it not only fosters camaraderie but also helps preserve a traditional folk game that is increasingly rarely played.

Throughout the matches, each team demonstrated effective strategies and strong cooperation. The players’ attempts to outmaneuver one another often sparked laughter and enthusiastic cheers from spectators around the field. After a series of exciting and closely contested matches, the winners of the Gobak Sodor competition were determined as follows:

First Place was won by Team A, consisting of Satiman, Bibit, Junianto, Desta, and Fendra.

Second Place was awarded to Team B, consisting of Komarudin, Sunarko, Mardiyana, Priatna, and Prapto.

Third Place was shared by two teams: Team G, consisting of Wiwin, Triatmoko, Ali, Surono, and Joko, and Team D, consisting of Ika, Indah, Rintis, Maulida, Alfina, and Ndari.

More than just a competition, the event provided an opportunity for the entire SPs academic community to strengthen togetherness. Through traditional games, the spirit of family and camaraderie within SPs is expected to grow stronger, allowing all members of the academic community to grow and progress together.

Congratulations to all the winners and appreciation to everyone who participated in the event.
