Event celebration commemorating the 43rd Dies Natalis of the Graduate School (SPS) of Universitas Gadjah Mada on Friday, September 11th 2026, themed “Resilience Toward a Sustainable Golden Indonesia: Transdisciplinary Excellence.” It was officially commenced as a strategic momentum to reflect upon the institution’s long journey within higher education. This celebration aimed to reinforce camaraderie of the academic community and solidify the commitment to create tangible contributions to national advancement. The event also expressed the highest appreciation for the support and dedication of all parties ranging from leadership, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and alumni to strategic partners who have worked hand-in-hand to uphold the integrity and sustainability of the institution.
The opening of the 43rd Dies Natalis began with a joint exercise session involving the entire academic community of the Graduate School. This was followed by opening remarks delivered by Mr. Dicky Sofjan, M.A., MPP., Ph.D., as the chair of the organizing committee. He highlighted the major achievements attained by the Graduate School, made possible with the cooperation and collaboration of all programs, faculty, administrative personnel, and academic staff at SPS UGM. A series of activities for the 43rd Anniversary will take place over the coming weeks, including a Three-Minute Thesis competition, a family karaoke contest, an ambassadorial roundtable, public talks, counseling booths, and various other events.
Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School, also remarked in her address, “The theme of this 43rd Anniversary serves as a reminder that in facing complex challenges, it is not enough merely to survive; we must also adapt, innovate, and collaborate across disciplines with diverse stakeholders. As an integral part of Universitas Gadjah Mada, the Graduate School bears the responsibility to continuously foster collaboration to yield meaningful contributions for the public and the nation.”
The celebration also featured the symbolic release of koi fish into the Graduate School’s fish pond by the Dean and executive leaders. This ceremonial release showed the Graduate School of UGM reaffirms its commitment to generating sustainable ideas and innovations. The spirit of the koi fish harmonizing within the pond serves as a tangible foundation for the campus to safeguard civilization, weave national resilience, and guide Indonesia toward the vision of a glorious Golden Indonesia.
Ultimately, this agenda serves as a collective reflection that the 43rd Dies Natalis celebration of the Graduate School as a venue for internal unity with academic and recreational competitions and also underscores the vital importance of concrete collaboration of the educational sector, local governments, and stakeholders in delivering community service and driving societal development.
