
Yogyakarta, June 15th 2026 – The Higher Education Management (MMPT) Master Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) paid an institutional visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The MMPT delegation was honourably received by Consul General Carolina Tinagon and Minister Counsellor Adiguna Wijaya. This meeting served as a significant momentum in expanding international perspectives regarding higher education governance and inter-institutional collaboration opportunities. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange perspectives on the higher education and employment nexus in Indonesia and Vietnam. Discussions focused on the different strategic approaches adopted by both countries in strengthening the alignment of higher education institutions and the continually transforming labour market needs.
The MMPT delegation, during this occasion, gained valuable insights into Vietnam’s education ecosystem, particularly the strong emphasis placed by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on fostering robust cooperation of universities and industry. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that graduates are equipped with the skills and competencies required to meet evolving job market demands and contribute effectively to national economic development. MMPT SPs UGM extended its sincere appreciation to Consul General Carolina Tinagon and Minister Counsellor Adiguna Wijaya for their warm hospitality and for sharing their perspectives on Vietnam’s efforts to strengthen graduate employability with closer university-industry partnerships.
This cross-border institutional visit aligns with the commitment of MMPT SPs UGM to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Efforts to explore strategies for aligning graduate competencies with industry needs contribute directly to the provision of quality education (SDG 4) and promote decent work and sustainable economic growth (SDG 8). Furthermore, the initiative of visiting and engaging in strategic dialogue with state representative institutions serves as a concrete manifestation of the commitment to strengthening global partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).
